Hoje, o Festival da Juventude tem o objetivo de favorecer o encontro do homem com Deus, por meio da beleza expressa nas apresentações artísticas e riqueza natural e cultural do Brasil. Todos os Atos Culturais e Religiosos estão fortemente enraizados na fé cristã católica, mas vão além: são Atos que dialogam com o mundo e põe em relevo a presença da Igreja na sociedade. Serão shows e concertos de música, espetáculos de teatro, dança e musicais que integrarão o Festival da Juventude, além de exposições de arte, cinema e visitas naturais e culturais à disposição dos peregrinos.
Dentro do Festival da Juventude, teremos também grandes momentos espirituais, realizado pelas congregações e movimentos nacionais e internacionais. Igrejas, praças, espaços públicos e privados, serão locais de grandes encontros de oração e missão. Desta forma, o Festival da Juventude, poderá unir as diversas expressões artísticas, com os inúmeros momentos de oração, meditação e ações, fruto de uma experiência de fé com Jesus Cristo.
The church was built in 1650 and was the center for pilgrimages and maritime processions organized by fishers and sailors in hopes of divine protection on long voyages across the ocean. Currently, it is kept by the Sea Scouts of Brazil.SAIBA +

Inaugurated in the XVII century, this cathedral was built with somber designs of Neo-classical inspiration. It was consecrated as a cathedral in 1908. It was bombarded in 1893 during the Naval Revolt and needed many repairs.SAIBA +
